Stem Cell Stars Seminar with Maria Barna
Join us for our next Stem Cell Star Seminar on 25 April as we deep dive into the dynamic world of ribosomes and their roles in cell fate transitions, development, and disease states with Maria Barna, Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University.
Lund Stem Cell Center is excited to welcome Dr. Maria Barna at our next Stem Cell Star Seminar. Dr. Barna is presently a NYSCF Robertson Stem Cell Investigator and has been recognized globally, receiving numerous awards for her innovative research.
Research by Dr. Maria Barna and her team is helping to redefine the perception of ribosomes from mere passive entities to complex, dynamic machines that play specialized roles in cellular processes. The lab focuses on ribosomes' dynamic roles in directing protein production for cell fate transitions in mammalian development and diseases. Using technologies like mass spectrometry and sub cellular resolution imaging to study ribosomes and their variation at protein, rRNA, and modification levels, their goal is to understand ribosome function across cells and its impact on gene expression for organismal development, tissue regeneration and evolution.
Following the talk, we invite you to engage and network with peers and fellow researchers over refreshments at our post-seminar mingle!
