Filipe Pereira awarded the 2019 ERC Consolidator Grant.

Today the European Research Council (ERC) announced the winners of its latest Consolidator Grant competition and Filipe Pereira, group leader in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, was one of the researchers awarded this highly competitive grant.

One of 89 researchers selected from a total of 707 applicants in the area of Life Sciences, Filipe will be awarded 21 million SEK over five years. The Pereira research team will be combining two completely different research fields – cellular reprogramming and cancer immunotherapy – into a unique project, where they will be working to harness the cellular reprogramming of dendritic cells to develop new patient-specific strategies for cancer immunotherapy.

- The grant means incredibly much and it gives us resources and confidence to focus and follow our most ambitious goals in the coming years. The project will increase knowledge about what regulates the specification of dendritic cells, and then utilize it to develop a brand new gene therapy for cancer, says Filipe Pereira.

Congratulations Filipe and Team!
