Annual Image Competition
Combining art and science creates a special energy that boosts creativity, enhances understanding, and enriches the human experience. This peaceful coexistence has been shown to lead to significant developments and valuable insights in both fields. Embracing this, the Lund Stem Cell Center proudly hosts an annual Image Competition that has become a popular tradition since its start in 2020.
The competition invites participation from across our vibrant scientific community, including researchers, students, and technical staff. We encourage submissions that reflect the diversity and innovation inherent in the research conducted at the Center. This results in a rich variety of entries ranging from scientific images and photographs to imaginative collages that capture the essence of their research or laboratory environment.
Each submission undergoes a thorough review process conducted by an anonymous panel of selected experts. The panel evaluates entries based on several criteria: visual impact, scientific contribution, originality, and the accompanying narrative. Based on their evaluations, three winning images are selected.
These images, along with all submissions, are displayed in a digital gallery showcase. Additionally, a selection of images is showcased in the Center's "Cellular Canvas Exhibition," which is open to the public during the annual Culture Night in Lund. This exhibition presents a unique opportunity for the public to engage with the world of stem cell research through the lens of art.
By blending art and science, the Lund Stem Cell Center's Annual Image Competition fosters a creative environment where scientific discoveries and artistic expression thrive together, offering an inspiring experience for participants and viewers alike.
