Selection Processes
RAMP-UP: Regenerative Medicine and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products – United for PhD Excellence
Our goal is to attract outstanding researchers and projects that reflect the interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international spirit of RAMP-UP. From the way research projects are chosen to the recruitment of doctoral fellows, the programme's selection process is designed to ensure the highest quality while promoting transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity at each stage.
Selection of Research Projects
Before doctoral candidates can apply, RAMP-UP invites supervisors from our implementing partners to submit project proposals aligned with one or more of the programme’s thematic areas:
- Invention & Innovation
- Clinical Translation
- GMP & Technical Production
- Commercialisation & ELSI
Each proposal undergoes scientific review and selection by external experts, coordinated by the Programme Management Team, to ensure a portfolio of novel, interdisciplinary projects. This curated list of projects will form the foundation of the PhD training opportunities offered across the RAMP-UP network.
Selection of Doctoral Fellows
RAMP-UP’s recruitment process is rooted in transparency, equity, and candidate autonomy.
Applications are reviewed through a transparent and independent process led by international experts and human resources, ensuring fairness at every stage. Applicants can explore the catalogue of approved research projects at any of our implementing partner universities and apply directly to the one that best matches their expertise and interests. Applicants are encouraged to choose projects across institutional and national boundaries.
Fairness and inclusion are central to the selection process, with multiple opportunities for candidates to present their profiles through written applications and interviews.
Selection Committee
RAMP-UP’s Selection Committee is composed of an interdisciplinary panel of independent experts drawn from academia, clinical research, industry, and regulatory bodies. Their combined knowledge, experience, and perspectives, reflect the full scope of the ATMP value chain, ensuring that research proposals are evaluated holistically and with a forward-looking lens.
Members of the committee serve as impartial reviewers and play a central role in upholding the values of academic integrity, scientific excellence, and intersectoral relevance that define the RAMP-UP programme.
