National ATMP Research School Course: Designing, approval and conducting of ATMP clinical trials
Bringing an advanced cell and gene therapy into a clinical trial is a science of its own. Join the National ATMP Research School's newest online course to learn the key steps in the process.
For many early-career researchers working with ATMPs, this step can feel complex and unclear. To help bridge that gap, the National ATMP Research School in Sweden has opened registration for a new online doctoral course hosted by Uppsala University: Designing, approval and conducting of ATMP clinical trials.
The one week course (09 – 13 March 2026) led by Gunilla Enblad, Professor of Oncology at Uppsala universitet (Uppsala University), provides a clear and practical overview of how ATMP clinical trials are designed, reviewed, approved, and carried out in Sweden, Europe, and internationally.
During the course, participants will learn:
- Which regulatory frameworks apply to ATMP clinical trials, and how they differ from other studies
- How to write a clinical trial protocol and what it must include
- Requirements for first-in-human ATMP studies
- Regulatory considerations related to GMOs
- GMP requirements for ATMP manufacturing
- How to design Phase I ATMP studies, including dosing and toxicity
- How applications are assessed by regulatory and ethics authorities
The course is open to doctoral students and recent graduates in relevant fields. Priority is given to students within the National ATMP Research School, with a limited number of places available for others.
Registration deadline: 26 February, 2026
