Part I (basic)

Overview

In this ½-day entry-level workshop, you will get started on how to use Adobe Illustrator in your scientific illustrations. The aim of this workshop is to introduce you to the fundamentals of Adobe illustrator.

By navigating the interface of Illustrator together, you will learn how to:

  • Properly setup an Illustrator document for scientific presentations
  • Learn how to use the basic tools of illustrator, including:
    • Import photos
    • Import graphs or diagrams
    • Start on your own scientific illustration
    • Export illustrations

Target audience

This workshop is open to anyone at Lund Stem Cell Center interested in learning about graphic design using Adobe illustrator. Priority is given to PhD students, postdocs, and staff scientists.

Entry Requirements 

There are no entry requirements for the basic workshop.

Practical requirements

  • Own computer with Adobe Illustrator installed.

Part II (advanced)

Format: Zoom digital workshop

Overview

This ½-day advanced-level workshop aims to take you beyond the basics to introduce the more advanced tools for creating scientific illustrations available to you in Illustrator. It will allow you to start creating more advanced illustrations for your scientific communication and figure preparation.

The workshop will for example:

  • Introduce further use of various tools
  • Introduce working in layers
  • Expand on the adjustment of colors

Target audience

This workshop is intended for anyone at Lund Stem Cell Center with prior knowledge of using Adobe Illustrator. Priority is given to PhD students, postdocs, and staff scientists.

Completion of Practical workshop on scientific illustration tools – part I or equivalent.
