SCC Talk - Tales from the crypt: helminth-mediated reprogramming of intestinal stem cells and its implications for host defense
Join us at Lund Stem Cell Center for an enlightening talk by Dr. Irah King from McGill University this 11 July, titled "Tales from the Crypt: Helminth-Mediated Reprogramming of Intestinal Stem Cells and Its Implications for Host Defense."
Irah King is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at McGill University. He holds a Canada Research Chair in Barrier Immunity from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and his laboratory is located within the Meakins-Christie Laboratories at the McGill University Health Centre – Research Institute (MUHC-RI).
Dr. King's research focuses on understanding the factors that contribute to a healthy gut, with an emphasis on how immune cells communicate with their environment to promote protective immune responses. Using animal models of infectious diseases and intestinal organoid-based approaches, his work explores how helminth infections and the gut microbiota shape intestinal immunity and host defense mechanisms.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the fascinating microenvironment of the intestine and how it maintains health while interacting with the outside world. This talk promises to provide valuable insights into the complex interactions between helminths, the gut microbiota, and intestinal immunity.
All are welcome, no registration required
